Cultural Diversity and Global Interdependence
Two courses are required for completion of this context.
- The first course will be one of the following:
- a second course of study in a foreign language
- an approved study abroad experience
- a course focusing on the culture in which the language studied is spoken
- The second course will be one with a significant Non-Western component.
Requirements for International Students
All international students must complete a third, non-language course with a substantial non-western component.
Tier I: Students whose first language is not English may waive the one semester foreign language requirement in Tier I by presenting a TOFEL score of 213 (paper test 550), a score of 5 or better on either the standard or the high level English examination for the International Baccalaureat or by successfully completing ENG 100: Basic Writing.
Tier II: For students whose first language is not English, completion of a semester of study at Westminster with a GPA of 2.0 or better is considered to be an approved study abroad experience.
