Why do you work for Westminster?
I love what it stands for: success, significance & service
What’s the best thing about working for Westminster?
The people – I have made thousands of friends here!
Why did you choose to be an Enrollment Counselor?
Former Board Chairman Bill Bennett said I didn’t have a choice – in 1999!
Outside of being a counselor, what other programs or office initiatives are you involved in?
Because I was Dean of Students for 20 years and Director of Alumni & Parent Relations for 4 years, I am always interested in those areas. I continue to attend alumni events and I try to work closely with school officials on behalf of our international students – most of whom I recruited to enroll at Westminster. Because so many of them do not have parents or family members in the U.S., many refer to me as Dad or Mr. Pat.
What’s your favorite memory of being a counselor so far?
Being called Dad or Mr. Pat by my international students.
List a couple of your hobbies.
Facebook and following sports (baseball, college basketball and football)
What’s one thing about your personality most people wouldn’t assume about you?
That I am actually quite shy or quiet when traveling by myself!
What’s your favorite piece of advice to share with students who are researching colleges?
Find the right “fit,” defined by academically, socially, physically and personally! It’s like a “chemistry” when you meet the “right” person! The same can be true to college decisions.
