Westminster Men Capture Third Consecutive Win
The Westminster College men captured their third tennis win in a row with an 8-1 victory over Webster University Thursday in Fulton.

Tony Stephenson, a Westminster College freshman from Jefferson City, Missouri (Helias High School) has been named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for March 8-14.

Westminster College Men's Tennis Tops Loras, 8-1
The Westminster College men's tennis squad evened its season record at 1-1 with an 8-1 win over Loras College Saturday at Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. The match was originally scheduled for Fulton, but was moved to Elsah because of bad weather and the availability of indoor courts at Principia.

Borengasser Represents Westminster (Mo.) At ITA Convention
Fulton, Mo. - Westminster College tennis coach Jeff Borengasser attended the 25th annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Coaches Convention at the Naples Grande Resort in Nples, florida, December 16-19, 2009. Borengasser iis in his sseventh year as men's and women's coach at Westminster. He has guided the men to five conference titles and has been named conference coach of the the year four times, and he he guided the women to two conference crowns.
The ITA Coaches Convention is one of the best professional developemnt opportunitites for collegiate tennis coaches today, providing them with the opportunity to receive continuing education, particpate in important association business meetings and serve as a leader in promoting the growth of varisty college tennis.
Nearly 300 men's and women's college tennis coaches at all levels gather each year for the convention. The four-day convention is highlighted by some of the most influential people in the sport of tennis. In addition to offering clinics, panel discussions, awards banquet, a trade show and a chance to exchange ideas, the ITA Coaches Convention serves as the venue for the association’s annual meetings, which includes its Board of Director and Operating Committee sessions.
“The convention is always a very exciting time of the year for our Coaches Association,” says ITA Executive Director David A Benjamin. “Besides being able to take in great clinics and workshops at a beautiful resort in a great city, the coaches also have a forum to meet and discuss the important issues within college tennistoday."
Former Blue Jay Joins Westminster Coaching Staff
Fulton, Mo. - Former Westminster College tennis player Andrew Darkow has joined the Blue Jay coaching staff as assistant tennis coach for both the men and women.
Darkow (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge), who is completing additional coursework at Westminster and is currently completing a term on the NCAA Division III National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, earned all-conference honors four consecutive years playing on four St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion teams. The 2007, 2008 and 2009 Blue Jay teams qualified for the NCAA Division III national tournament. Darkow graduated in May with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.
Darkow And Fellow Seniors Named Athletes Of The Year
Fulton, Mo. - Seniors Andrew Darkow, Abby Stuck and Jason Warncke have a few things in common. Each has been active on campus, each has earned all-conference honors in their sport and each has been a part of a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion team. And, that is why the three are the 2008-09 Westminster College Athletes of the Year (click for more).
