Class of 2014, Business Administration
U.S. Space and Rocket Center
Huntsville, AL
Tyler Walker’s summer job could have been described as “out of this world.” Since Tyler’s a sophomore, he can’t technically call his experience an internship, but was still an incredible experience.
This summer, Tyler was a team leader at Aviation Challenge at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Aviation Challenge is a military-focused camp that works on leadership and teamwork.
Tyler described his responsibilities as such: “We teach every kid what training would look like if they were to become a fighter pilot for the Navy or Air Force. We have Fighter jet simulators and we use those to simulate air to air combat and air to ground combat. It's a five day camp and over the course of the week, we do several missions. 80% of our activities are outside so we do a good deal of stuff without a roof over our heads.”
The best part of the job for Tyler? It’s a life-altering experience for everyone involved. In fact, he says, “personal growth just happens on its own accord.”
