Living the Mission
Westminster College Founder’s Day is February 18. To honor the College’s history and to celebrate the achievements of the students, faculty and staff of today, we asked this simple question:
“How do you live the Westminster mission every day?”
"I live the Westminster mission by trying to remind myself that I have been given something great, a Westminster education. It is my responsibility to take the knowledge and experience I have gained here, and use it to benefit those around me. To whom much is given, much is expected. We are so lucky to be here."
Jack Easterly, Class of 2014
Student Government Association President
“I live the Westminster mission by not only being an active and critically aware student, but also by being an active and critically aware global citizen. Being a Leadership Studies major I have been enrolled in a lot of service learning class which have allowed me to grow as an individual while improving and helping my community. I believe that a true leader is a person who empowers others. In living up to this mission, Westminster has empowered me and given me the tools to empower others.”
Andrew Lankford, Class of 2014
“Westminster has given me the tools that I need for my life now and for my future. Westminster has given me a second home and more importantly, a second family. I feel that living the Westminster mission means using the tools that this prestigious college has given you and furthering yourself in life. I am happy to say that Westminster has given me a greater understanding of the real world and what I need to learn and use to succeed in life.”
Marcelo Giebink, Class of 2014
“I am so impressed by how our faculty both educate and inspire our students, each and every day. I strive to live the mission by doing the same --- challenging our students to use their minds and their hearts to make a difference on our campus and in our world.”
Dr. Carolyn Perry
Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty
“I live the Westminster Mission by encouraging and facilitating diversity. Westminster strives to develop leaders in a global community. As a part of the Westminster community, I bring my diverse background, family, and beliefs to the global community exchange. Engaging in meaningful dialogue and facilitating interaction is my way of living the mission.”
Jorden E. Sanders, Class of 2014
"I live the Westminster mission every day by finding out ways to serve in our global community, be it proving the children of Nepal with clean drinking water, or raking the leaves of elderly residents of Fulton. The liberal arts education at Westminster has given me the leadership skills that have allowed me to be a productive member of the society and live the life of service and significance."
Sneha Bhandari, Class of 2013
“I have loved every minute I have spent at Westminster! One of the main things I have learned is to not only be a leader on campus and in the classroom, but also in this global community. When I graduate and become a teacher I hope to pass on a bit of my Westminster education by teaching my young students about integrity, fairness, respect and responsibility so they too can become great global citizens! Educated to Lead. Inspired to Achieve.”
Caroline Ayers, Class of 2014
“To me, living out the Westminster mission is to continually represent the college in a positive manner. Whether in the classroom, on the basketball court, or serving the Fulton community, I know my actions reflect this prestigious institution so I hold myself to high standard founded on our core values: integrity, fairness, respect, and responsibility. The mission of Westminster College has shaped the individual I am today; striving to be a leader of character.”
Jill Barry, Class of 2014
“As an alumna and staff member, I live out the Westminster mission in a unique way every day by challenging and inspiring other alumni and friends to get involved with the College and do what they can to give back.”
Gina Campagna, Class of 2009
Office of Development
“I live the Westminster mission through involving all of my time and effort for the good of Westminster College. Whether it is leadership on the football field or in the classroom, I set examples through hard work, responsibility, respect , and more importantly integrity. Applying to Westminster was the best decision I have ever made because it allowed me to become greatly involved within the campus, provide service to those in need, and become the leader I was meant to be. I only wish everyone knew about the experience and education that this amazing school provides us, I already know that it will continue to build my character and truly prepare me for a life full of success.”
Dalton O’Donnell, Class of 2015
“I live the Westminster Mission best by giving back – of my time, my talents and my treasure. It is important for me to share the resources that I have at my disposal in order to teach a skill, fulfill a need, or solve a problem. Whether it is offering a student their first opportunity to serve on a board of directors, or helping a staff member get comfortable volunteering at the soup kitchen, or by mentoring a group of students in their search for a community service project – giving back to my community is very important to me.”
Office of Development

The staff and teachers have inspired me to always reach and work toward a goal. The relationship I have with the teachers allows me to reach my full potential. The mission is a great set of guidelines to not only follow at Westminster but also in the workplace. Every day when I wake up, I think that it truly is a great day to be a blue jay!”
