International Baccalaureate Students at Westminster

International BaccalaureateInternational Baccalaureate students see the world a little differently than most students. At Westminster College, we understand, and we’ve developed a college environment that takes IB education to the next level. Our focus on global engagement, a rigorous liberal arts education, total student development, and leadership uniquely prepares IB students for graduate programs, successful careers, and lives marked by meaning and service.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being an International Baccalaureate student at Westminster is the opportunity to study and live with IB students from around the world.  We’ve created a global community on our Fulton campus, with students from nearly 70 countries—many of whom came from IB programs.

Academic Opportunities for IB Students at Westminster

Westminster acknowledges the great value of IB courses and the IB diploma and therefore has a generous transfer policy.  Students who present a full IB diploma with a final total score of 28 points or better will be awarded a year’s worth (30 hours) of credit toward graduation.

Westminster College IB Transfer Policy

At Westminster College, International Baccalaureate students find opportunities for academic engagement through participating in our Honors Program, completing honors within majors, conducting research with faculty, and presenting at our Undergraduate Scholars Forum each spring.  They also find study abroad and internship opportunities that are just right for them.

Service and Leadership

Westminster Service Project in Nepal

Westminster puts great emphasis on service, and IB students take part in service-learning courses, volunteer in the local community, and even participate in international service projects in places such as Belize and Rwanda. More than 85 percent of our students take part in service work. In addition, we encourage students to find time for a wide range of clubs and organizations in order to develop their leadership abilities.  And if we don’t have the club they wish to join or lead, they are welcome to create their own!
