Scholarships
The Cranshaw Scholarship was established in 1980 by the late Helen MacDonald Sanders of New York, a Fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library at Westminster College, and by her son, Robert MacDonald, a resident of Great Britain.  The scholarship, valued at $15,000, assists Westminster students in pursuing study abroad opportunities at their choice of institutions in the United Kingdom.  One scholarship is available each year.

The Vernon W. and Marion K. Piper Scholarship was established in 1982 at the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library at Westminster College by Vernon W. and Marion K. Piper of St. Louis, Missouri.  Mr. Piper served as a Fellow of the Memorial and served on its Board of Governors.  The scholarship, usually valued at $15,000, assists Westminster students in pursuing study abroad opportunities at their choice of institutions in Europe.  The number of scholarships awarded is dependent on market value each year.  Currently, the minimum awards are $7500 and ranges to $9000.

Applications for both scholarship competitions are available each November during the week of International Education Week and are due in January of each year.  Completed applications include the following:  application, resume, essay, (unofficial) transcript, letters of reference, and Dean of Student Life certification.

Cranshaw & Piper Scholars are selected by a committee of Westminster faculty members, comprising the Committee on Scholarships & Recognitions.  Candidates for the scholarship must be sophomores when they apply and hold a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
