Why Study Business Administration at Westminster College?

  • Businesses are people.Where else can you have more of an impact on people than in a field that IS people? Business is people working together, people working to support others, young people, old people, people of every background and circumstance. This makes business study DYNAMIC, EXCITING, AND REWARDING!
  • Businesses empower you.Businesses are focal points for financial and other resources. There are businesses in the world that have bigger annual budgets than most countries. Want to have an impact? Go where the resources are!
  • The business/society link is growing in importance. Businesses are increasingly called upon to help implement government programs such as job creation and environmental initiatives. And in the global arena, the business sector is often used as both reward and incentive in eliciting bilateral or multilateral cooperation.

Major Highlights

The business administration major covers all of the traditional areas of study, including management, marketing, finance, accounting, economics, and management information systems. Other disciplines contribute required courses in statistics, calculus, and speech. You have many options, though, to tailor the major toward your interests. There are four areas of concentration; marketing, management, finance, and entrepreneurship. In addition, you can propose your own area of concentration or minor area of study to further individualize your educational experience.

Student Quote

"Westminster's Business Administration major provides students with the opportunity to learn about the world of business as well as challenges students to be the best they can be. The requirements set forth by the college are all-inclusive, covering the many different areas that are essential for the effective operation of a business. I believe the professors at Westminster College pride themselves on not producing the so-called "carbon copy" student, but instead expect their students to challenge and critically analyze already established theories and principles. The passion for and dedication to teaching that I've witnessed in my business courses demonstrates that the professors genuinely want students to have the knowledge they need in order to be successful in life."     Shannon Baker, Class of 2014
