"This vast site is designed "for students, small businesses, and bookkeepers" to help them learn accounting. The author of all site content, Harold Averkamp, is a CPA who also has an MBA. "Core" materials are free, but expanded materials labeled "PRO" (e.g., video seminars and tutorials, exams, and business forms) require payment of a one-time fee of $49. Users can access the core content by the tabs that appear at the top of each page; they include Accounting Topics, Test Yourself, Questions and Answers, Bookkeeping Training, and Dictionary of Terms. The All Topics menu located on the home page provides a quick way to browse all topics, in either alphabetical or recommended order. Users can also limit the topics displayed by three major categories: Bookkeeping, Financial, or Managerial. Averkamp provides extensive coverage for each topic, using a common format that usually includes sections titled Explanation, Quiz, Questions and Answers, Crossword Puzzles, and Word Scrambles. The Explanation sections are well organized and broken down into logical parts, which make for easier comprehension. In addition, all technical terms are highlighted, and definitions display when they are clicked. A separate, extensive dictionary of terms is a helpful complementary resource. Users can sign up to receive a free newsletter containing answers to new accounting questions. A useful site for anyone wanting to learn the fundamentals of accounting. Summing Up: Recommended. All levels of undergraduate students; practitioners; general users."
