Which Style Should You Use?
Your professor should tell you which style they want you to use. If they have no preference, you may follow these guidelines:
AP:
Journalism, newspaper writing.
APA:
Psychology, education, and other social sciences.
MLA:
Literature, arts, and humanities.
AMA:
Medicine, health, and biological sciences.
Turabian:
Designed to be used for college students for most
any subject.
Chicago:
Used in the professional publishing world for books,
magazines, etc.
Citing Internet Sources:
The Internet has created a whole new range of citation issues, which each of the above styles has had to answer. The following pages will address each question carefully.
*Note that there are copies of each style guide available in the library, as well as librarians and staff to assist you.
