Entry for New Students

In order to enter the U.S. you will need a student visa. Once your application materials are in and you have been accepted, our office will issue you an I-20 form that you will need to take with you to the U.S. embassy or consulate. If you are applying to more than one school, please do not apply for a visa until you have made your decision.

Along with the I-20 form, you will also need other documents as well. Not all embassies or consulates require the same information, but the following is usually standard:

  • An I-20 for the F-1 visa
  • A current and valid passport
  • Proof of financial support for study at Westminster College
  • Proof of permanent residence outside the U.S.
  • At least one passport photograph
  • A nonimmigrant visa application

Make sure you contact your embassy to find out exactly what you need. Sometimes these additional documents are required: proof of English skills, previous school records, and additional evidence that proves you are still interested in returning to your home country after your education. You might also have to pay an application fee and be interviewed.
