Student Organizations and Activities, Mesa
Consistent with the Concept for Student Development, student organizations and activities play a critically important role in the Westminster experience. The activities of student organizations and clubs represent opportunities to build and reinforce friendships, to serve others, to become a leader, and to have fun through involvement.
The Student Government Association (SGA) stands at the center of virtually all student activities and, in this light, is the ultimate student organization. In the inaugural year of Westminster at Mesa, the first students will establish the Student Government Association and begin the process of authorizing student organizations and clubs and providing support and guidance for them. SGA is funded by the student activity fee and is responsible for allocating the funds for the wide range of student activities including those associated with SGA-recognized organizations and clubs.
Honorary societies such as Alpha Chi, Omicron Delta Kappa, and those associated with particular disciplines should also be available to eligible students.
The range of clubs and organizations is almost unlimited, and SGA and the Office of Student Life and Services will work closely with groups of students with common interests and sponsoring faculty/staff advisors to get everything started. In addition to the Student Government Association itself, some possible clubs and organizations that may include:
Civicus, Student Organization for Social Justice
