Martin Clayes joined the Westminster College staff as men's soccer coach and physical education instructor in the spring of 2010, becoming the 11th head coach in program history. In his second season, Clayes guided the Blue Jays to the school's second-ever St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and he was named Coach of the Year.
Clayes came to Westminster from Truman State University, where he served as the women’s assistant soccer coach for two years. He previously served as the Truman State men’s assistant and then worked as a personal trainer is St. Louis.
Clayes had an All-American career as a member of the Truman State men’s team, leading the team is assists in each of his four letter-winning seasons from 2002-05. He led Truman State to a pair of NCAA tournaments and completed a degree in exercise science at Truman State. Clayes played professionally with the St. Louis Lions of the USL in 2007 and 2008.
Clayes and his wife, Allie, live in Fulton.
