Head Coach Curtis Madson
Curtis Madson joined the Westminster College staff as the women’s volleyball coach and physical education instructor in the spring of 2013.
During his first year as head coach, Madson led the Blue Jays to a 17-12 record. He brought them to the SLIAC Tournament where they fell to Webster University.
A former elementary physical education teacher, Madson came to Westminster with extensive experience. He spent three and a half years of coaching at the collegiate level, one at Carthage College’s Division III men’s program, as well as two years running and coaching a NIRSA men’s club volleyball program. This past season, Madson was the assistant women’s volleyball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He also has eight years of high school coaching experience, five of which he was the head coach of a boys’ varsity program. He has an extensive background in coaching volleyball camps, mainly through Carthage College for men's camps, and at UW-Platteville with the Nike Camps for girls.
Madson began his volleyball collegiate playing career as the libero at Clarke College in 2003-2004. During the 2004 season, he was voted co-captain of the team. He then transferred to Carthage College and finished his collegiate career as a defensive specialist on the volleyball team. During his time at Carthage, he was a part of two Coleman Division Championships and the 2005 Molten Division III National Runner-Up team.
He received his undergraduate degree in physical education and sport and fitness with an athletic coaching certification from Carthage College in 2007 and then completed a graduate degree in athletic administration from Western Kentucky University.
Madson and his wife, Mallory, reside in Fulton.
