Efficiency Fund

The Efficiency Fund it is a Board of Trustee approved initiative proposed in 2015 by EcoHouse, a theme house on campus designed to represent and promote sustainability, in collaboration with the Student Government Association.  What it does is collect $15 per student per semester into a pool of funds that goes towards implementing ecologically and economically efficient projects. The Green Council, which includes the President of the College, appointed faculty, staff, and student representatives, then meets to review, select, and prioritize Efficiency Fund projects. There is opportunity for anybody to propose a project for the Efficiency Fund, and applications for that will available through EcoHouse.

Efficiency Fund Report 2015-2016

Dyson hand dryerBased on last spring’s Green Council meeting, it was decided that the funding from the Efficiency Fund would go towards new, efficient Dyson “airblade V” hand dryers in the four bathrooms in Hunter Activity Center (HAC), as well as occupancy sensor light switches throughout the Quad bathrooms. Remaining funds from this semester will be added to spring 2016 semester’s funds for replacing the existing overhead lights in HAC gym with high efficiency LED fixtures. All of these projects have projected return on investment within 5 years.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact EcoHouse. We want to be as transparent as possible so you know where your money is going.

Thank you for your contribution to make our campus the best it can be!
