While only teaching here at Westminster College a few short years, I have grown fond of the College because of the relationships I've developed with many of the students, faculty and staff. Simply put, Westminster College is a nice place to teach and to learn.
I come to the College from private industry where for the past eight years I developed computer software and information systems for national professional organizations, Fortune 500 companies, and regional and local governments and businesses. I enjoy the challenge of learning how businesses and organizations operate and then helping them to craft technological solutions to apply to their information and work-flow challenges. This is a skill I try to help my students learn and apply here at Westminster.
So far, in just a couple of years, students and I have managed to develop software solutions that help our Campus Computer Services Staff better manage Computer Help Desk requests and have positively impacted Student Government voting by providing an on-line "virtual balloting" system. While the focus on work is intense, being productive in these ways would not be possible without the close interaction with students. It is the student that makes Westminster a great place and the part I enjoy the most.
As serious as I am about my work, I do enjoy recreation too. I enjoy spending time at home with my wonderful wife and playing "crazy-eights" or "go-fish" with my young daughter and playing cars with my 2 year-old son too. Whenever it's warm enough you can find me on the "links" and as soon as the warm temperatures wane, I'll be at the Ice Rink playing forward with the "Beanery Bombers" hockey team.
