On August 20, 2011, new students participated in two ceremonies steeped in tradition at Westminster College. First was the New Student Columns Ceremony, which students and alumni often consider one of their fondest memories of Westminster.
Immediately following the Columns Ceremony was the New Student President's Convocation in Champ Auditorium. The convocation speaker this year ws Samantha Cardwell, Assistant General Counsel at Interactive Communications International, Inc. and alum of Westminster College. As an in-house corporate attorney, Samantha negotiates agreements to distribute retail gift cards, wireless phone cards and reloadable prepaid debit cards in area supermarkets, convenience stores and other retail locations across the country.
Samantha is also a principal of the multi-faceted performing arts firm, SCardwell Productions, using her creative skills in music, theatre and business management for songwriting, acting, motivational-speaking and production. She devotes time to charity organizations such as the Sisters of Today & Tomorrow (mentoring young girls) and Mission Minded Artists (missionary efforts abroad) to spread a global message of peace and love.
Samantha's latest artistic projects include the honor of being a guest singer to perform in tribute to the High Priestess of Soul, the late Nina Simone during a 10-day festival of cultural art activities, and a cameo acting role and performance in the movie, "The Industry" filmed in Atlanta, GA.
Samantha received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Westminster College and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
