Johnson continues to serve the American Bankers Association as Membership Ambassador and on the Government Relations Council.  He is also a past President of the Florida Bankers Association.

He worked for Procter and Gamble and IBM before becoming the founding Chair and CEO of East Coast Bank Corp.  He concluded his active banking career as Manager of External Affairs for Regions Financial Corps. in Birmingham, AL.

Johnson graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering with high honors.  He served as President of the Gator Boosters and is currently on the board.  In 2007, he was named University of Florida Distinguished Alumnus Entrepreneur of the Year.

He received his Juris Doctor from the Birmingham School of Law in 1975 and graduated from the Sonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was a counter-intelligence officer at U.S. Army Europe headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany.

Johnson has served on the Salvation Army Service Committee and as Chairman of Trustee of Saint Leo University where he received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.  He is a member of the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame and was a Board Member of Fannie Mae National Advisory Council.
