In 1946, former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill visited Westminster College to deliver his famous "Iron Curtain" address. Since then, Westminster College has continued to host leaders in government and business from around the world and across the disciplines in our notable lecture series.

IBM Lectureship in Business and Finance
The International Business Machines Corporation established the IBM Lectureship in Business and Finance at Westminster College in 1980. It is designed to bring to the College campus leaders in the world of business and finance and/or professors of economics and business administration for visits of from one to three days.

Green Lecture Series
The John Findley Green Foundation lecture was established in 1936 as a memorial to John Findley Green, an attorney in St. Louis who graduated from Westminster in 1884. The foundation provides for lectures designed to promote understanding of economic and social problems of international concern. It further provides that "the speaker shall be a person of international reputation."


Crosby Kemper Lectureship
The Crosby Kemper Lectureship was established in 1979 by a grant from the Crosby Kemper Foundation of Kansas City, Missouri.  It is intended to provide for lectures by authorities on British History or Sir Winston Churchill at the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.  The established Lectureship is held under the auspices of the British Institute of the United States and the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library.

Symposium on Democracy
As an extension of the 60th anniversary of Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech delivered on the Westminster campus in 1946, Westminster College and the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library established the Symposium on Democracy to encourage college and university students, faculty and community members from throughout the Midwest to join prominent scholars and leaders in an exploration of timely and enduring topics around the central theme of democracy.
