Dr. Bill Sheehan, Associate Vice Chancellor for Development at the University of Missouri at Columbia, will bring a wealth of development experience to his new role as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Westminster College in Fulton, MO beginning April 22.

"It became clear after a comprehensive national search that his extensive development experience and achievements and solid background in private, liberal arts education make him the ideal person to help us shape an exciting future for Westminster."
In his current position, Dr. Sheehan provides executive leadership to nine academic fund raising programs, the office of Corporate and Foundation Relations and the fund raising aspects of the University of Missouri Extension Services.
During his seven years as Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, he was part of the successful completion of the largest fund raising campaign in the history of the University, reaching the $1.03 billion mark.
He has provided managerial oversight for approximately 30 staff members and 30 fundraisers, establishing benchmarks, goals and timelines.
"I am excited about joining the Westminster College community," says Dr. Sheehan. "I look forward to meeting and working with alumni and friends to advance the College and build upon the previous successes Westminster has enjoyed. Additionally, I look forward to working with President Forsythe, the talented advancement staff as well as the rest of the faculty and staff at the College to help carry out the vision and mission of Westminster."
Prior to Dr. Sheehan's achievements as Associate Vice Chancellor for Development at MU, he was Executive Director for Development and Alumni Services at Columbia College in Columbia, MO from 2004-2006.
His career in higher education development also includes leadership responsibilities at the University of Missouri in Columbia as Executive Director of Advancement for the College of Arts and Sciences (1998-2004), Director of Development for Gift Planning and Endowment (2001-2002), Development Officer for Gift Planning and Endowment (2000-2001) and Associate Director of Development for the School of Nursing (1998-2000).
He served on the National Committee for Planned Giving (2000-2006), was a member of the Planning Committee for the Big 12 Conference (2002) and was selected as one of only two MU staff members and 40 people nationally to attend the Big Ten Fundraising Institute.
Dr. Sheehan received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Central Methodist University where he also served as Dean of Student Life and Director of Residence Life as well as leading annual fund and alumni relations efforts.
He holds a Master of Education degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri.
