Athletic News - Basketball(W)

Fulton, Mo. - The 2011-12 Westminster College women set a single-season school record with 22 wins, captured the school's second St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) title, won the first SLIAC tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time in the 20-year history of the women’s basketball program. Seniors Rachel Backes, Liz Klaffenbach and Heather Letourneau were a part of 67 victories, setting a new four-year school record.

While the Blue Jay women’s team was a success on the court, the players were equally successful in the classroom. Nine members of the women’s basketball team made the Dean’s List and six recorded 4.0 grade point averages for the 2011 fall term. And, five members of the team were named academic all-conference.
