Alumni Council Focuses on Engagement
Alumni & Friends News
Twenty members of the Westminster College Alumni Council converged on campus this past weekend during the fall meeting. Main discussion topics addressed increasing engagement during Alumni Weekend and in regional areas. Members heard an update from President Barney Forsythe, and campus staff shared the latest on Westminster student recruitment, awareness marketing and fundraising. Student leaders, SGA President Paola Protti Nunez, Student Ambassadors President Lee Goatley ’12 and Vice President of Marketing and Recruitment Becca Reape ’12, talked to the Council about ways alumni can increase their engagement with current students.
Members left the meeting full of energy and ready to act! At-Large member Prity Stubinger ’02 reflects, “I'm excited to see the Council changes we've been discussing start to take shape and can only envision great results for the college should we keep the momentum going!”
In 2010-11, the Alumni Council began putting a plan in place to restructure the Council around the concept of engagement – engaging alumni with fellow alums, current and prospective students and with the College. This year, the Council is implementing the new direction with new leadership, a new membership structure, and a list membership expectations and opportunities. Leading the charge is President Art Hoge ’75, Vice President Sara Weir ’04 and chairs Betsy Humphreys ’83, John Hughes ’89, Travis Sartain ’97 and Sorin Ciesielski.
“The discussions were excellent and substantive,” says Hoge. “I am very excited as a whole what the Alumni Council is embarking on this year,” adds Hughes.
