Baseball Completes Series Sweep Against MacMurray

The Westminster Blue Jays completed the three game sweep of MacMurray College Sunday afternoon at Saucier Field with a 17-0 victory.

The Blue Jays were able to win with a combination of both hitting and pitching.  The offense was able to pound out 20 hits, compiling a total of 17 runs. Seven Blue Jays had a multi-hit game, including a three hit day for Andy Pichler with two triples.

Jake Rule was able to throw a complete game shutout, giving up only three hits. He was the winning pitcher; he struck out four and walked one in his seven innings of work.

The Blue Jays improve to 7-5 in SLIAC play and 10-8 overall.

The Blue Jays head to St. Louis, Mo. Tuesday to play Fontbonne University in a doubleheader. First pitch will be at 1 o’clock. Fontbonne is currently in second place in the SLIAC.
