Blue Jay Women Capture SLIAC Road Win

Greenville, Ill. – The Westminster College women’s basketball team improved to 17-3 overall and 11-1 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) play with Saturday’s 63-45 win at Greenville College.
Senior Rachel Backes (Tipton, Mo./Tipton) finished with a game-high 23 points, four rebounds and four assists for a Westminster team that went 17-of-21 from the free throw line. Junior Kenna Cornelson (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) contributed 10 points and four rebounds, and senior Heather Letourneau (Smithton, Mo./Smithton) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Greenville (6-14, 3-9 SLIAC) was led by Laura Hobbie, who tallied 13 points and eight rebounds.
By The Numbers: Westminster is playing in its 20th season of women’s basketball and is now 216-254…Although the Blue Jays trail in the all-time series with Greenville 23-19, they have now won nine in a row…Coach Tracey Braden is 73-47 in her fifth season coaching at Westminster.
