Blue Jays' Branneky & Abram Named to SLIAC Player of the Week

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of April 8-14.
 Westminster College's Tyler Branneky, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo. (Lutheran North), has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 8-14.
Branneky batted .550 at the plate in five games played last week. He totaled 11 hits, 10 RBI, two doubles and two home runs with a .950 slugging percentage. Branneky started the week with two hits, two runs scored, two RBI and one home run in a 9-8 victory over Fontbonne University. He followed that by going 3-for-4 with two RBI in a 7-6 victory to complete the double header sweep of Fontbonne. Branneky had another 3-for-4 performance in a 3-1 win on the road at Greenville. He then added two hits, including a double and a home run, three RBI and two runs scored as the Blue Jays defeated the Panthers 14-4. He finished the week with one double and two RBI in a 9-8 win versus Greenville.

Westminster College's DeVaughn Abram, a freshman from Tulsa, Okla. (Booker T. Washington), has been named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 8-14.
Abram broke the modern day Blue Jays' record and placed fourth in the 100-meter dash at the SLU Invitational. He recorded a time of 11.05 seconds. Abram also finished 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.66 seconds.
