Blue Jays Capture SLIAC Series With 2-1 Sunday Victory

Carlinville, Ill. – Westminster College won its St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) baseball series with Blackburn College by winning Sunday’s third game by a 2-1 score. The two teams split Saturday’s doubleheader.

Junior Zeth Levy was the lone Blue Jay to record multiple hits Sunday. He went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI which included driving in sophomore Andy Pichler with the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. Freshman Jake Rule pitched seven innings, allowing one run on six hits, and senior Brandon Zucker pitched two innings to pick up the win in relief.

Blackburn (11-2, 7-12 SLIAC) won Saturday’s first game 3-2, and Westminster (15-18, 11-10 SLIAC) captured Saturday’s nightcap 3-1 in 13 innings, setting the stage for Sunday’s series finale.
