Blue Jays Fall In SLIAC Championship Game

The Westminster Blue Jays played in the SLIAC Championship matchup with the Gorloks of Webster University Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays could not hang on, and fell to the Gorloks 0-2, ending the 2012 Blue Jay soccer season.
After a scoreless first half, the Gorloks found the goal just four minutes into the second. Just shy of 20 minutes later, Webster’s McCaffery found the goal for the second time, putting the Blue Jays down 0-2.
The Blue Jays only took six shots on goal throughout the game, but also limited the Gorloks to only four shots on goal. Connor Hollrah (Columbia, Mo. /Hickman) and Jacob Appelbaum (St. Louis, Mo. /U. of New Haven) led the team in shots, with 4 and 7 shots, respectively. Hollrah and Appelbaum took two shots on goal each, and Michael McDonough () and RJ Moore () each took one shot on goal.
Caleb Marquis (Moberly, Mo. /Moberly) stood ground in goal for the Blue Jays, and ended his season with a 7-7-2 record.
The Blue Jays ended the season 6-2 in the SLIAC (10-7-2 overall).
