Blue Jays Lose Heartbreaker to Gorloks in Semi-Finals

The Westminster volleyball lost a heartbreaking match against the Gorloks of Webster University Saturday evening in Greenville, Illinois. 

After taking the first game 25-18, the Blue Jays could not find their play in games two and three, losing 22-25 and 16-25, respectively.  The Blue Jays battled back, and took game four as their own, winning 25-18.  In game five, the teams battled back and forth, but the Gorloks pulled it out in the end, 13-15.

The Blue Jays ended the match with 51 kills, 16 of them from freshman Lexi Collier (Weston, Mo. /West Platte).  Setter Haley Roberts (Farmington, Mo. /Farmington) finished the match with 44 sets for the Blue Jays.  Four Blue Jays aced their serves, while only giving up one reception error to the Gorloks. 

Sisters Alex and Jordan Berry (Kirkwood, Mo. /Kirkwood) led the team with 26 and 20 digs, respectively. 

The team finished with 12 blocks, a block and three block assists from Andrea Kiser (Warsaw, Mo. /Warsaw) and one block from senior Molly Owens (Overland Park, Kan. /Blue Valley West).

The Blue Jays end the 2012 season with an 11-5 SLIAC record (16-15 overall).
