The Westminster College Blue Jays overtook the Coe College Kohawks 74-58, leading by 19 at one point in the game Monday night. The Blue Jays are now 7-2 in their season.
The Kohawks put the first numbers on the board, bringing the game to 0-5 after 2 minutes of place. The Blue Jays slowly came into the game, but a jumper by
Robbie Burroughs from
Todd Stolte with 14:21 left in the half started a 15-0 run that ended just 3 minutes later. A jumper by
Skylar Tolson with 4:56 left in the half gave the Blue Jays a 17 point lead. The Blue Jays headed into halftime up 36-25.
The Blue Jays kept the same pace as the first half, keeping a stead 12 point lead. With 6:04 remaining in the game, the Kohawks came within 8 points.
Verdis Lee answered back with a jump shot and the Blue Jays grabbed a 19 point lead with 2:17 remaining. The Kohawks stopped us from scoring again, but the Blue Jays won 74-58.
The Blue Jays shot 53.4% from the field, and 41.2% from beyond the ark. Lee scored a game high 24 points, putting up 16 in the second half.
Joe James chipped in 14 points and had 3 steals.
Joe Prophet dished 4 assists, and Burroughs took down 7 defensive rebounds.
The Blue Jays will enjoy the next two weeks off, and head back into play December 27th when they host Cornell College at 3:00 p.m.
