Blue Jays Outscore Rockford Regents In Florida

The Westminster College Blue Jays outscore the Rockford College Regents 13-8 during the second day of their spring break trip.

The Regents jumped to a quick lead, grabbing five hits and scoring four runs in the bottom of the second. The Blue Jays retaliated and scored at least once in the next six innings. Junior Andy Pichler (St. Louis, Mo. /Oakville) recorded three runs, two hits and a RBI, sophomore Cam Backes (Tipton, Mo. /Tipton) recorded two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice, and freshman A.C. Long (Lee’s Summit, Mo. /Lee’s Summit recorded three hits, one run and one RBI. Six other Blue Jays scored during the game.

The Regents scored four more runs in the seventh and eighth inning, but could not cover the deficit. Sophomore Jake Rule (St. Louis, Mo. /Vianney) took the win for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays move their season record to 2-1. They take Wednesday off and return to the field Thursday for a doubleheader against Kenyon College at 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. (EST).
