Blue Jays Place Third And Fourth at Illinois College Invitational

Jacksonville, Ill. - The Westminster College men’s cross country team placed fourth and the women’s team finished third at the Illinois College Invitational Saturday. 

The men’s team competed against 13 teams, including five teams from the SLIAC. Their total time in the invitational was 2 hours and 19 minutes.  Junior Matt Borst (Flower Mound, Tex. / Marcus) was the top Westminster male, finishing 14th in the men’s 8K race in 27:21.  Freshman Pius Nyakoojo (Jefferson City, Mo. / Jefferson City) followed shortly behind, placing 21st in 27:44.

The women’s team competed against 12 teams, including three teams from the SLIAC.  Westminster’s total time in the invitational was 2 hours and 4 minutes.  Senior Kaily Downey (Kirkwood, Mo. / Kirkwood) crossed the finish line in 23:24, placing 6th in the 6K race.  Junior Sarah Koestner (Lohman, Mo. / Russellville) placed 9th, finishing just 18 seconds later, 23:42. 

The SLIAC Cross Country Championship start October 27th in Hillsboro, Ill. at 10:00 a.m.
