Blue Jays Run Through MSOE

The Blue Jays Men’s Basketball Team ended their Thanksgiving break early, taking on the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) at home Friday evening.  The Blue Jays ended the half up by 27 points before defeating the MSOE Raiders 90-54.

The Blue Jay started the game with a 9-0 run, starting with a three pointer by Joe James from senior Mookie Valandra.  A turnover by the Raiders sent the Blue Jays on another 9-0 run just five minutes into the game.  A technical on the Raider’s coach sent the Blue Jays on a 16-0 run to end the half. 

The Raiders came out in the second half and chipped away the point difference, bringing it down to 19, before the Blue Jays took control again.  With ten minutes left of play, the Blue Jays stopped the Raiders from coming within 30 points again.  A free throw by Blake Berkbuegler gave the Blue Jays their biggest lead of the game (40) with a minute left of play. 

James led the Blue Jays with 22 points.  Robbie Burroughs chipped in 14 points, and led the team with four assists.  Verdis Lee led the game with seven rebounds.   The Blue Jays shot 52 percent, and 88 percent from the free throw line, making 21 of 24. 

The Blue Jays continue their home game streak tomorrow, November 24th, when they host Edgewood College at 5:00 p.m.
