Blue Jays Slide Into 4th Place In SLIAC

The Westminster College Blue Jays took control of the second half, bringing home a 79-76 conference win over the Greenville College Panthers Thursday evening. The win brings their record to 11-5 and their SLIAC record to 4-3, moving them into fourth place.
The Blue Jays put the first numbers on the board, but the Panthers quickly tied the game on a fast break. The lead jumped back and forth, but with 8:51 left in the half, the Panthers took control of the game.Verdis Lee
(Fulton, Mo. /Fulton) tied the game, 27-27, with 4:28 left on the clock, but the Blue Jays could not grab control of the game. The Blue Jays went into halftime down by one, 34-35.
The Blue Jays came out of halftime and quickly grabbed control of the game. The Panthers brought the game within one point (48-47) with 11:51 left in the game, but the Blue Jays rallied back with a 9-2 run.
The Blue Jays held a healthy 10 point lead over the Panthers with 3:38 left in the game, but the Panthers were determined to win the battle. With 0:04 left on the clock, the Panthers managed to get within 2 points (78-76).
The Blue Jays went 10-12 in the last minute and a half to pull out the close 79-76 win.
The Blue Jays shot 49% from the field, and went 50% from beyond the arc. Joe Prophet

(Columbia, Mo. /Rock Bridge) netted 15 points, hitting 5 of his 6 three pointers. Joe James
(Kirkwood, Mo. /Vianney) went 9-10 on free throws, and dished in three assists.
The Blue Jays head home and host Blackburn College Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
