Learning the Basics of Dining Etiquette 

On Wednesday evening, October 5, 76 people attended the annual Professional Etiquette Dinner co-sponsored by the Westminster College Office of Career Services, Alumni Association, and Student Government Association. The dinner was held at Sir Winston’s Restaurant and Pub in Fulton. Each table was hosted by a successful community member from the Mid-Missouri area who helped teach students proper dining etiquette.Community members who served as Table Hosts were Brooke Berkey, Sales Manager for Stoney Creek Inn and Conference Center, Jess Berkey, Fixed Assets Accountant for MFA Oil Company, Tamara Caston (’06), 4th Grade Teacher for Hatton McCredie Elementary, Lt. Andre Cook, Chief of Detectives for the Fulton Police Department, Tom Dobbins, Director of Budgeting and Financial Controls for Westminster College, Tim Langdon, Branch Manager for Regions Bank, Stacy Minnick, Talent Acquisition Coordinator for State Farm Insurance, Kevin Quinn, Executive Director of Advancement Services for Westminster College, Curtis Scroggins, Program Developer for MTW Solutions, Cynthia Scroggins, Human Resources Associate for Lincoln University, Prity Stubinger (’02), Owner of Prity Studios, and Donald Wood (’00), Executive Director of Development for Westminster College.

Overall, students gave the evening high ratings. They said the Table Hosts were very helpful and commented that they left with an increased understanding of dining etiquette.  Some students had the following things to say about the experience:

“Very helpful in increasing knowledge and practice of dining and mingling etiquette.”
“Contained everything I would have thought of, and some things I didn’t.”
“Our table host was very willing to share her wisdom with us.”
