Lady Blue Jays Advance To Championship After Win Over Spalding

The Westminster Lady Blue Jays powered over the Spalding Golden Eagles Saturday afternoon, grabbing the 77-70 semifinal win. The Blue Jays move on to the Championship game that is being held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Westminster Historic Gymnasium.
The Blue Jays compete against the Webster University Gorloks for the SLIAC Tournament title.
In the first game of the day, Webster University overtook the Eureka Red Devils 73-67.
In the second game, Westminster beat Spalding University. The game started in a back and forth battle for the lead, but with 16:18 on the clock, Spalding took hold of the game.
A jumper by Talisha Washington
(Fulton, Mo. /Fulton) tied the game at 16. The Blue Jays grabbed the lead following the jumper, and they went up by six with 10:30 left in the half.
The Golden Eagles tied the game up just two minutes later and proceeded to take the lead.

started the Blue Jays’ 10-3 run to end the half up 42-35.
The Blue Jays held the lead throughout the second half, but the Golden Eagles brought the game to just a two point deficit with 13:44 left in the game.
The Blue Jays rallied from the two point difference and hit an 11-0 run to bring them up by 13 points (62-49).
Spalding chipped away at the lead, but could not bring the game within five points. The Blue Jays stayed strong and finished the game up 77-70.
The Blue Jays shot 41 percent from the field and from the three-point line. They went 22-26 from the foul line, shooting 85 percent. Hannah Kloster
