Lady Blue Jays Fall To Hanover In Doubleheader

The Westminster Lady Blue Jays stopped in Indiana to play Hanover College on their way to their Louisville, Kentucky for their first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup. While in Indiana, the Lady Blue Jays fell to Hanover in a double header Friday afternoon. The Blue Jays record now moves to 1-3.
In the first game the Blue Jays fell 1-2. They had a scoring opportunity in the top of the 2nd, but an easy out at first base left three on base at the end of the inning. The Blue Jays had another scoring opportunity in the third but could not put a number on the board. They held Hanover from scoring in the bottom of the fourth, and in the fifth inning the Blue Jays finally put a number on the board. Brittany Lee hit a single to centerfield and scored Lori Jones. The next innings went quickly, but in the bottom of the 7th the Panthers of Hanover rallied back and scored two runs to end the game.
Senior Morgan Shipley
went 2 for 3 from the plate and Lee
went 2 for 4 with one RBI. Junior Sarah Schneider
(0-2) threw seven strikeouts and took the loss for the Blue Jays.
The second game was scoreless until the bottom of the second when the Panthers scored an unearned run. The Panthers scored two more runs in the next two innings. The Blue Jays had bases loaded in the top of the 5th, but was not able to put any numbers on the board. The Panthers scored three more runs in the bottom of the 5th, giving them a 7-0 lead against the Blue Jays. Jones

went 1 for 3 from the plate for the Blue Jays. Lee
(1-1) recorded the loss for the Blue Jays, pitching four innings and giving up two runs on six hits, while striking out two.
The Blue Jays will play a doubleheader with Spalding University tomorrow starting at 1:00 p.m.
