Lady Blue Jays Fall to Missouri S&T

The Westminster Women’s Basketball fell 41-59 to non-conference Missouri S&T Thursday evening.  The Miners took an early lead, and the Blue Jays could not catch back up. 

The Blue Jays stopped the Miners from scoring for the last four minutes of the first half except a layup with four seconds left.  The Blue Jays headed into halftime down 19-31.

The Miners came out strong the second half, increasing their lead.  A shot with seven minutes left of play by Hannah Kloster from Laci Luff started closing the gap for the Blue Jays.  The Blue Jays stopped the Miners from scoring in the last two minutes, but could not close the gap. 

Kloster led the Blue Jays with 9 points, followed by junior Talisha Washington with 8.  Kenna Cornelson, the senior from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, went 3-4 on free throws and chipped in 6 points.  Kloster and freshman Mackenzie Haddox grabbed 7 rebounds each, with Luff following closely behind with 6.

The Blue Jays take on the Highlanders of MacMurray Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for their first conference matchup.
