Lady Blue Jays Pull Out Win Against Greenville

The Blue Jays gained another victory against the Greenville Panthers Wednesday evening when they pulled a close 58-52 win. The Blue Jays advance to 12-1 in conference play with three games left in regular season. They continue their seven game win streak and bring their overall record to 13-9.
After going on a game opening 14-2 run with all five Blue Jays starters scoring, Westminster began to struggle from the field with ten minutes left in the half and let the Panthers sneak back within 7 points.
The half ended with Westminster on top 29-22. Senior Hannah Kloster (Springfield, Mo. / Parkview) led all scorers at the half with 8, followed closely by senior Talisha Washington (Fulton, Mo. / Fulton) with 6.
Westminster continued to battle with the Panthers in the second half, only being able to extend their lead to double figures once before Greenville battled back within 5 with under five minutes left to play.
Junior Leigh Ann Lutz (California, Mo. / California) hit two free throws with under two minutes left in the game to pull the Blue Jays back to a 6 point lead. Free throws by senior Kenna Cornelson (Oklahoma City, Okla. / Casady) solidified the 58-52 victory with 17 seconds left.
The Blue Jays had three players finish in double figures. Cornelson led Westminster with 16 points and dished four assists. Lutz and Kloster added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Blue Jays head to Carlinville, Illinois to play Blackburn College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
