Lady Blue Jays Shut Out U. of Ozarks

The Lady Blue Jay soccer team shut out the University of the Ozarks Eagles in their regular season home opener Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays won 3-0, improving their record to 1-1-1.

The first half was scoreless, but the Blue Jays took eight shots, three on goal. They held the Eagles to just three shots, but they were all on goal.

Just five minutes into the second half, sophomore Manyima Njie scored a goal with an assist from Eileen Koppy and put the Blue Jays up 1-0. This is the third consecutive game she has scored a goal. The Blue Jays continued to fight, and in the 77th minute, sophomore LaTayisah Ousley scored off a cross from senior Beau Reiske. In the 81st minute, Ousley scored again off a breakaway.

The Blue Jays had 21 shots total, 10 being on goal. Freshman Ellen Woosley collected her first shutout win, finishing the game with eight saves.

The Blue Jays will head to Jacksonville, Illinois tomorrow to play Illinois College at 2:00 p.m. You can watch the game live here.
