Lady Blue Jays Track & Field Take 8th at Jim Green Invitational, Men Take 11th

The Westminster College Track & Field Team travelled to Jacksonville, Illinois to compete in the Jim Green Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays competed against 16 teams, including four SLIAC schools. The Lady Blue Jays competed against 15 teams.
The Westminster women’s track & field team took eighth place, and the Westminster men’s track & field team took eleventh place.
Senior Kaily Downey (Kirkwood, Mo. /Kirkwood) came in first place in the mile run, finishing in 5:36.59. Jared Patterson (Salem, Mo. /Salem) finished in third place in the men’s mile run, crossing the line in 4:30.60.
The Westminster men’s distance medley team placed first, finishing in 10:57.84. The women’s medley team placed second (13:48.95).
The Westminster women’s 4x200 meter relay team came in second place, finishing in 1:54.57.
Tanisha Terrell (Vandalia, Mo. /Van Far) finished the 60-meter dash in 8.4 seconds, moving her into the finals. She improved her time in the finals, finishing in seventh place in just 8.37 seconds.
The women’s 4x400 meter relay team came in fourth, finishing in 4:32.80.
Tony Mitchell (Naples, Fla. /Golden Gate) placed sixth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump.
Four Blue Jays placed in the men’s 5000-meter run. Daniel Lindaman (Columbia, Mo. /Hickman) crossed the line in seventh place (16:23.14), followed by Will Megl (Troy, Mo. /Elsberry) and Jesse Edwards (Rogersville, Mo. /Logan Rogersville) in eighth and nineth place, respectively. Pius Nyakoojo crossed in 16:56, coming in 14th place.
The Blue Jays take two weeks over before heading to Columbia, Missouri to compete in the MIssouri Collegiate Challenge on February 15th.
