Jacksonville, Ill. – Junior Zeth Lavy drove in two runs with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Westminster College baseball team to a 5-4 victory over MacMurray College Monday in the final game of a three-game St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series. The Blue Jays (13-16, 9-8 SLIAC) sweep the series and have won five games in a row.

Westminster led 3-2 heading into the ninth inning when MacMurray (11-17, 4-13 SLIAC) scored two runs to take a 4-3 lead. But, the Blue Jays rallied. With one out, sophomore Andy Pichler and senior Mike Young both singled. Sophomore Danton Hughes reached on an error to load the bases, setting the stage for Lavy, who drove in the tying and game-winning runs with his first hit of the game. Pichler went 3-for-5 and scored twice and Hughes went 2-for-5 which accounted for five of Westminster’s seven hits. Senior Mark Davidson picked up the win in relief.
