Museum Honors Veterans During the Holidays

The National Churchill Museum is well known for the special attention it provides to veterans during the holiday season. Two recent significant projects by the Museum are the Holiday Honor Tree and Operation Baby Shower.

The Holiday Honor Tree recognizes veterans, current soldiers, and deceased military personal by displaying their pictures that were submitted by loved ones who wished to see them recognized. Each picture on the tree has the name of the soldier being honored, the date of service, and the military branch they served. This Holiday Honor Tree will be displayed in the Museum foyer until January 7.

The second project, Operation Baby Shower, honors the expectant mothers of military families by helping them prepare for the blessed event. The Museum is collecting donated items such as baby bath accessories, toys, teething rings, rattles, and stuffed animals and on January 8, volunteers will take the donated items and make “showers in a box” to send to the military baby showers being organized by the St. Louis non-profit organization Operation Baby Shower, which produces and coordinates unit-wide baby showers.

One of the important priorities of the National Churchill Museum is honoring the sacrifices military families have made and continue to make to ensure the strength and security of our country through projects such as these.
