New Controller Starts Work at Westminster

Beth Schmidt, a Certified Public Accountant from Springfield, MO, has assumed duties as the new controller in the Business Office of Westminster College in Fulton, MO.
 
“Beth comes to us with an excellent background in higher education, specifically skilled in accounting operations, budget development and financial statement preparation,” says Phil Daniels, Vice President for Business and Chief Financial Officer. “This experience, along with leadership skills and her understanding of the importance of customer service, will allow her to hit the ground running and add immediate value to the Business Office.”
 
Schmidt has worked for the past six years as Assistant Director of Accounting and Budgeting at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. In this position, she helped develop, organize and maintain the University’s $245 million internal operating budget and multiple University capital project accounts.
 
Previously, she was employed as Senior Staff Accountant for McCullough, Officer and Company, LLC, an audit firm in Springfield for ten years.
 
Other employment has included work as an accounting clerk at both the Bobby Vinton Theatre in Branson, MO, and JE Vaughn and Associates in Springfield and five years as a teacher at Luther High School South in Chicago, IL.
 
She holds a master’s degree in accountancy from Missouri State University and a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Concordia University.
