John M. Hooker from the greater Houston area, has joined the Westminster College team as Executive Director of Development in the Office of Institutional Advancement.
“We welcome John to the Westminster family,” says Westminster President Dr. George B. Forsythe. “He brings three decades of accomplishments in the academic, administrative, civic and health care arenas to our College. I am confident he will play a significant role in the future of Westminster as we educate our students to become leaders that will make a difference in the world.”
Hooker came to Westminster from The Woodlands in Texas where he has been a consultant for a group of nonprofit organizations, offering strategies and recommendations on fundraising, operations and outcomes since 2009.
Before assuming that position, he was responsible for the largest campaign in the history of the Memorial Hermann Foundation in Houston, TX.
“Westminster is a special gem among higher education institutions and I look forward to the challenge that lies ahead,” says Hooker. “There is a rare passion here and a uniqueness that is unparalleled in my experience with private liberal arts undergraduate colleges.”
Among Hooker’s other professional accomplishments are the single largest donor commitment and largest campaign ever at Elmira College in New York, a successful $113 million campaign at Southwestern University in Texas that had only been projected to raise $75 million and doubling of the endowment portfolio of the Jackson Community College Foundation in Michigan.
“Westminster is fortunate to have such visionary leadership from its President, Barney Forsythe, and its Board of Trustees,” says Hooker. “I see a very bright future for Westminster and I feel privileged to be a part of shaping that future.”
