Alumni Honored at President's Dinner

Several of Westminster’s outstanding leaders were recognized Friday evening, Oct. 15, for their significant contributions to Westminster College. Westminster President Dr. George B. Forsythe and Dr. John Comerford, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, presented the awards.
Sentinels of the Columns Awards in recognition of gifts between the $100,000-$249,000 level were presented to Paul (’81) and Debbie Kavanaugh of Kansas City, MO.
The Kavanaughs have provided student endowment scholarships, supported the construction of the Rwanda health clinic, and have the fireplace in the Mueller Leadership Hall named in their honor.
A special award was presented to Dale Nichols and Dave Babel of Columbia, MO, for their development of the 5th Street Westminster Apartments and the new Westminster Groves Townhouse Community and their property gifts to the College.
The final special award was presented to Wally (’72) and Audrey Head. Wally is a member of the Westminster Board of Trustees who helped conceive and lead the successful Campaign for Westminster that raised over $80 million for the College. The lounge in Sloss Hall, the new freshman residence, is now named the Wally and Audrey Head Freshman Lounge in their honor.
Other Sentinels of the Columns Award honorees were Jack (’49) and Patricia Aitken of Houston, TX; the estate of Cecilia Fitch whose husband was a Lifetime Trustee; and Missouri Foundation for Health for their grant support to the College’s smoke cessation program and Symposium on Democracy on Global Health. These parties were not in attendance to accept their awards.
