Three Westminster Women Runners Earn All-SLIAC Honors

Hillsboro, Ill. - Three members of the Westminster College women’s cross country squad earned all-conference honors Saturday at the 2011 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at the Hillsboro Country Club.
Sophomore Sarah Koestner (Lohman, Mo./Russellville) finished second individually on the 6K course in 23:32 to capture first-team all-conference honors for the second year in a row. Junior Kaily Downey (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood) placed 10th in 24:46 to grab her second second-team all-conference award, and freshman Anna West (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) placed 11th in 24:56 to earn second-team accolades. West also was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. As a team, Westminster placed fourth, two places higher than last season.
In the men’s competition, sophomore Matt Borst (Flower Mound, Tex./Marcus) placed 18th on the 8K course in 27:26. Freshman Daniel Lindeman (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) finished 26th in 27:58 for the Westminster men’s squad and earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team. The Blue Jay men placed fifth, equaling last year’s finish.
