Westminster's James Earns SLIAC Weekly Honor

Fulton, Mo. - Westminster College sophomore Joe James (St. Louis, Mo./Vianney) has been named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the weeks of December 19-January 1.

James, a 6-2 guard, scored a career-high 30 points on 10-of-14 (.714) shooting from the field and 9-of-9 (1.000) shooting from the free throw line in an 89-80 loss at Cornell College. He also added four rebounds, four steals and two assists in the game. James then shot 7-of-7 (1.000) from the charity stripe and finished with 11 points in a 71-69 home victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University in the final game of 2011.

James is the first Westminster basketball player to earn SLIAC Player of the Week honors this season, and he is third nationally in free throw percentage among NCAA Division III men, according to statistics that were just released. James has made 40-of-41 free throws (.976 percent) this season.
