Westminster Softball Records Most Wins Since 1997

Jacksonville, Ill. – The Westminster College softball squad improved to 13-13 overall and 7-3 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) play with a doubleheader sweep of MacMurray College (6-23, 1-11 SLIAC) Wednesday. In the process the Blue Jays have won the most games in a single season in 15 years since the 1997 team finished 15-16.

Westminster took Wednesday’s opener 4-1. Freshman Emily Kesel went 3-for-4 at the plate and sophomore pitcher Sarah Schneider picked up the win to even her season record at 6-6. The Blue Jays scored a season-high 16 runs in the nightcap’s 16-0 victory. Sophomore Brittany Lee (7-6) hurled a one-hit complete game shut out and went 4-for-4 at the plate. Lee hit her second home run of the season and her team-high tenth double of the year. Sophomore Rai'an Harris went 4-for-5 at the plate and junior Talisha Washington went 3-for-5 at the plate and hit her first home run.

The Blue Jays travel to Greenville, Illinois, Saturday to face Greenville College in a 1:00 p.m. SLIAC twin bill.
