Westminster College and William Woods University are two of the major beneficiaries of new scholarship funds thanks to Missouri Colleges Fund (MCF) grants from The Pott Foundation, Edward Jones and Emerson.
Citing a desire to invest in education in the State of Missouri, The Pott Foundation has provided MCF with a grant of $35,000, Edward Jones has given $17,000 and Emerson has awarded $16,000.
These grants will underwrite student scholarships at each of the 16 MCF member schools and be awarded on the basis of financial need.
“Westminster and William Woods are very grateful to The Pott Foundation, Edward Jones, Emerson and the Missouri Colleges Fund for these gifts,” said Dr. George B. Forsythe, President of Westminster College. “Only through public/private partnerships can we make the kind of strong investment in higher education our students deserve.”
William Woods University President Dr. Jahnae H. Barnett noted, “This contribution recognizes the importance of education and the significant impact that an educated workforce has on Missouri’s economy.”
The MCF was formed in 1952 as a non-profit corporation. The MCF mission is to acquire resources to help educate students in its member colleges and universities. Since the MCF is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt corporation, all contributions are tax-deductible up to the limits prescribed by the law.
MCF member schools are independent baccalaureate degree-granting liberal arts and comprehensive colleges and universities in the State of Missouri. Their income is derived primarily from private sources.
In addition to Westminster College and William Woods University, MCF member schools include: Avila University, Kansas City; Central Methodist University, Fayette; Columbia College, Columbia; Culver Stockton College, Canton; Drury University, Springfield; Evangel University, Springfield; Fontbonne University, St. Louis; Hannibal-LaGrange College, Hannibal; Maryville University, St. Louis; Missouri Baptist University, St. Louis; Park University, Parkville; Rockhurst University, Kansas City; Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar; and William Jewell College, Liberty.
