Who Is A Westminster College Student-Athlete? Lara Banner, a senior economics and psychology major and a student ambassador, is a Blue Jay student-athlete.
Banner, who is an international student from Munich, Germany, and attended the United World College site in Costa Rica, is a Dean’s List student and a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. She is in her fourth season as a member of the women’s tennis team and has earned all-conference certificates each of the past two seasons, is a two-time academic all-conference selection and a member of the 2011 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.
While she originally went out for tennis to make new friends, Banner has received much more from the experience. “Playing tennis on the college's team gives me a great balance between extracurricular activities and academics. After practice I feel refreshed and ready to focus on my other work,” said Banner. “On a personal basis, I have learned to be more open towards new experiences, be a better team member and develop my leadership skills.”
"The members of Student Ambassadors of Westminster College have the duty to promote the mission, success, and future of Westminster College and to build and maintain connections between alumni, other constituents, and the Westminster community. Being concerned with the public relations and advocacy for Westminster College, we recognize that we have the obligation to adhere to the highest standards of student life and the values of the college."
